As classical musicians we are quite often faced with an uncomfortable reality: most recording studios are committed to record pop music. The Piano Recording Studio is unique in that respect… We specialise in Classical piano recording instead.

Audio Recording

Our equipment is crown by the world’s most suitable microphones: the AUDIX SC25A-PS. Our audio recordings are precise. We make sure we capture all the wealth of sound of the piano bass and all the inharmonic compounds of the top high register. We achieve this by combining the perfect piano, above 15 years of experience, the perfect room and our unbeatable mics.

Audio and Video recording

Our movie director is ready to help you produce the most astonishing video portfolios. We can organize your portfolio to be filmed at the studio or in any other venue of your preference

Touring

We have been recording life concerts since 2010. We are capable of obtaining high quality recordings under any conditions.

Recording Residence

Your stay includes two full days of intensive recording sessions, comfortable accommodation in our historic palace, airport transfers, and gourmet meals. Make your musical dreams come true in an environment that marries creativity and comfort.

Editing and Mastering

Our master sound engineer is an artist. Understanding each performer and the sound he is looking for is his main concern.

We will pay attention to your needs and we will not stop until we get the best out of your natural sound.

Original Composition Recording

If you are a composer and would like your pieces to be professionally recorded either or both in audio and video, e can help you. We have been recording original pieces professionally since 2010. Thanks to the support from WKMT London, we are count with top notch pianists ready to perform and record your pieces to the highest of standards.

CD and album design and production

The Piano Recording Studio can handle all the different steps related to the creation and production of your album. Our graphic design team can propose and design the cover and contents of your album. We can then organise the printing of CDs or the online release of your material.

I was introduced to the WKMT by a close friend who bought me a gift of 2 hours of recording time to make a recording of Liszt's Petrarch Sonnets and a contemporary piece by British composer Joseph Phibbs that I had recently studied intensively. I am an amateur pianist and have never made a recording in a professional studio. My musician friends told me that this can be stressful. As a retired doctor (and despite the fact that I have studied piano since the age of four), I was a little apprehensive but after stepping in to the WKMT studio, any nerves vanished. Gisela and Juan have the gift of putting one at one's ease at once. There is advice, guidance, support, warmth, humour, coffee, and endless patience. And of course there is great flexibility with appointment times. Nothing was too much for them. Juan is hugely supportive and kind and the mastering stage was an extraordinary educational experience. He threw in some great pianistic tips too!! I am thrilled with the final, mastered recordings. Whether as mp3 and wav files shared via Dropbox, or the beautifully recorded CD's, it is a dream come true. And the Yamaha Grand is truly exceptional. I will be honoured to return to WKMT when I am in a position to record something again. Thank you Juan and Gisela. You are great professionals. I loved the experience!

My experience recording with WKMT.

Recording a song for your portfolio can be very expensive, but trust me it is worth it. Recording your vocals is fun, but the hard bit and what costs the most is the engineering side. For five days, spending two hours each of those days, I sat with Juan watching him pick and edit my voice for ‘Colours of The Wind,’ from Pocahontas. This process made me realise how much detail goes into making a good recording. To start, we were going through all my vocal takes, picking which sections sounded better. This took about 1hour. After that it was all about placing the vocals in time with the backing tracking. That already took 2 hours. For the rest of the 8 hours, it was all about placing reverb, editing the sound quality of my voice, thickening parts and prolonging some vocals where it needed to be. As you can see, this is a long process and needs a lot of attention, but at the end of it we were both happy with finished piece.

From this experience I would recommend any performer to spend the money to get a recording professionally done, and if you have the opportunity to sit with the sound editor too you should. This would avoid disappointment if you are expecting something to what you think it might sound like, and if you are wanting it for your portfolio, you only want the best of the best!

I would like to extend a huge thank you to Juan and his team at WKMT for helping me make a wonderful recording of Chopin last Friday: Their Yamaha piano is flawless with a beautiful, clear tone and the tuning was impeccable. The microphones are of the highest quality too, and the end result was well-balanced, dynamic and very natural-sounding - I was absolutely thrilled! WKMT can certainly compete with many of the other classical recording studios in London (and their prices are very reasonable too). Juan, with his friendly and relaxed, but extremely professional disposition, created the perfect recording environment, and he is always on hand, if you need any technical help, advice or artistic inspiration. Take note pianists: if you need a recording for an audition, competition entry or showcase, this should be your first port of call in West London - I cannot recommend them highly enough!
